2024 Supplemental Rules

General Operating Rules

1. The AMA rule book shall be followed in its entirety, however, these AMA District 22 Club Council Inc. supplemental rules shall govern those cases not provided for in the AMA rule book.

2. Any nonstandard operating expense must be approved by majority vote. 

3. Elected officers must maintain official records. Examples of such records include meeting minutes, financial records, bank statements and membership files. At the end of the officer’s term the records will be transferred to the newly elected officer.

4. All officers are expected to be present at the November Sanction meeting.

5. AMA District 22 Club Council Inc. may hold meetings as needed. Date and time to be determined and communicated via social media and email to all officers, clubs and promoters.

6. All promoters must remit a $250.00 annual sanction fee to be eligible to host a Series event. 

7. Each promoter must remit $3 per racer, per class for each Series race to the AMA District 22 Club Council Inc Treasurer via electronic payment within 30 days of the event. A $100 per week penalty will be assessed if payment is not received within 30 days of the event. 

8. All new promoters must submit a $1,000.00 deposit to the AMA District 22 Club Council Inc Treasurer to secure a race date in the series. Deposit will be credited towards the $3 per racer payment upon completion of the series event. If the promoter must cancel the event without rescheduling, the $1,000.00 deposit is forfeited and any future inclusion in the series must be approved by the AMA District 22 Club Council Inc.

9. Each promoter must submit a complete scoring file to the AMA District 22 Club Council Inc Points Steward by 6pm the Monday following the event; any violations will be reviewed by the AMA District 22 Club Council Inc for consideration of penalties.

10. All motocross race events, including non-series events, must be AMA sanctioned.

11. All series events must include a non-point paying 50cc Open class; entry to this class will be free with entry in either of the other 50cc classes.

12. District 22 AMA Club Council Inc tracks cannot hold a dirt bike event (practice, race, training or any other publicly announced motocross event) on any dates previously scheduled by another District 22 AMA Club Council track, unless previously agreed upon by both tracks.

13. Any unsportsmanlike conduct at any Iowa Moto Series track will result in a penalty ranging from event disqualification to full expulsion from the Iowa Moto Series and their corresponding tracks, at the discretion of the District 22 AMA Club Council Inc.

14. The Iowa Moto Series digital membership list will be maintained by the Executive Committee; promoting tracks may not have direct access to membership information without prior approval from the AMA District 22 Club Council Inc. All use of the distribution list will be reviewed and approved by all voting members of the AMA District 22 Club Council Inc. 

15. All promoters of the District 22 AMA Club Council Inc. must provide the Executive Committee proof of AMA sanctioning for their event 30 days prior to their series race. 

16. All promoters of the District 22 AMA Club Council Inc. must provide the Executive Committee proof that race results, race report and any membership payments have been submitted to the AMA within 30 days of the event’s completion.

*Per AMA Rulebook:
A rider must be 14 or older to ride a 201cc to 250cc motorcycle.
A rider must be 16 or older to ride a 251cc or above motorcycle.

**Per AMA Rulebook:
A rider must be 9 or older to ride an 85cc motorcycle.

2. Dress code will conform to current AMA RULES: AMA approved helmet, goggles, long sleeved jersey, and high-top boots. (Minimum of 8” high).  

3. It is highly recommended that chest and back protection be worn by all competitors, however, it is required for all competitors in Youth Classes to wear chest and back protection. The protection may be worn under or over the jersey, and it should cover the sternum, anterior ribs, posterior ribs, and spine from T1 to T12

3. Riders may not compete in two classes being run together in the same Moto.

4. Iowa Moto Series points will be awarded in each of the twenty-eight (28) designated series classes at each round. One throw-out will be awarded at the end of the 2024 season, such that each rider’s lowest scoring round will be removed from end of year award calculations. (Note: a missed event scored at 0 will automatically be considered the lowest scored event for throwout purposes.)

5. One round of the Iowa Moto Series will be scored with double points towards end of year awards on the following yearly schedule:

  • 2024 – Sully MX
  • 2025 – New Hartford Racing
  • 2026 – Keokuk County Expo MX
  • 2027 – Cronktytonk MX
  • 2028 – Sportspark Raceway

The promoter hosting the yearly double points race will also host the end of year awards banquet. 

6. The District 22 AMA #1 Championship Plate will be awarded to the Iowa Moto Series champion in each of the twenty-eight (28) District 22 AMA Club Council Inc classes at the end of year awards banquet.

7. In the event of a tie after all series points are calculated and throwout applied, the racer with who attended the most Iowa Moto Series races will be deemed the tie-break winner.  If the tie cannot be broken utilizing this method, standard AMA tie-breaker rules will be applied.
